Q: What are Callbacks?
A: Callbacks are the second round of auditions.
Q: How will I know if I'm called back?
A: Callbacks will be posted here on the CORE Theatrics website. You can check the information after the posting date you will receive at your audition.
Q: Where can I find a contemporary monologue?
A: There are many ways to find a monologue. There are internet sites, libraries, drama teachers, and book stores. When looking for a monologue, make sure it is from an actual play and that the character is age appropriate. Monologues from movies and book should not be used. Internet: You can search for "Male or Female Monlogues " on the internet and sift through your findings. Library and Bookstores: Ask to be directed to the Drama section. Look through books and take the time to read through the monologues that fit your age range and will best showcase your ability. It is worth it to purchase the book if there are more than two monologues you like in the book.
Q: Where can I find a classical monologue?
A: Use the Links page of the CORE Theatrics website and then click on the Shakespeare Monologues link. This is an amazing resource for all actors. Choose the monologue that best highlights your ability.
Q: Where can I find sheet music?
A: There are a number of ways to find your sheet music for your song. Ask your school choir director or drama teacher, use the internet, use old scripts you have from prior shows, or go to a music store. You can also use the Links page of the CORE Theatrics website and then click on the Sheet Music Plus link.
Q: Do I have to have a professional headshot?
A: No. If you have one please feel free to use it. However, youth change so much that an investment in professional photos may prove too costly. You may also use a school picture or a photo you have from home which captures your personality. You may also take a photo at home with good lighting that focuses on your face.
Q: What should my resume include?
A: Your resume needs to tell the director what shows you have done, what training you have had, what special skills you have (gymnastics, music, languages), physical characteristics (height, hair, eyes..).
Q: Can I sing a cappella?
A: It is in your best interest to prepare your song with music. If you are unable to we would rather see you sing so come and sing for us a cappella. Please be prepared for the Musical Director to ask you to sing scales or the like.
Q: Can I bring recorded music?
A: Yes! However, please also bring a playing device you can rely on.
